The High Point Market now has an updated logo reflecting one the importance of one of social media's top search tools.

The updated logo now includes the Twitter hashtag, #hpmkt - making the High Point Market one of the first organizations in the U.S. to incorporate a hashtag in its logo, a press release said.

"The market's brand is a solid one, but the former logo didn't accurately reflect the brand. This new logo showcases something unique, modern, strong and ahead-of-the curve. Those are words that accurately describe the High Point Market as well," Tom Conley, president and CEO of market organizer the High Point Market Authority, said in a press release.

The logo has debuted on Market Authority's website and will be used in all its marketing. A hashtag includes a number symbol, #, and makes it easy to search messages on the social media site called tweets.

"The market's hashtag #hpmkt was already being used on social media as a replacement for the full High Point Market name," said Cheminne Taylor-Smith, the Market Authority's vice president of marketing. "That gives the HPMkt acronym in the market's new logo an immediate recognition factor. And as the logo is used online, it will help increase the SEO (search engine optimization) for the High Point Market and its website."
